AtoZero (Accelerate to Net Zero) ASEAN at IGEM 2023 welcomes the Honourable Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia to deliver the Opening Keynote at the Joint Opening Ceremony, with participating Ministers, industry CEOs and international thinktank leaders driving the leadership dialogues, investment and innovations around Malaysia’s and ASEAN’s Net Zero pathways.
Economic outlook uncertainty, sustained high energy prices and rising emissions pose serious challenges to ASEAN countries’ pathways towards Net Zero. Policy makers, industry and thinktank leaders are rapidly adapting to the new realities. Energy systems evolve. Policy initiatives evolve to support the further adoption of renewables, cross-border connectivity projects; while investments are needed to strengthen the infrastructure and network development. Innovations such as carbon capture and hydrogen herald transformational opportunities for the net zero future.
In this light, Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) and Constellar are proud to present the inaugural AtoZero ASEAN @ IGEM 2023 as a vibrant, high-impact platform dedicated to ASEAN’s Net Zero pathways. The event convenes Energy Ministers, industry CEOs and leaders of international organisations - the most important stakeholders directly shaping the region’s Net Zero transition. In addition to meaningful policy dialogues, industry insights and innovation showcases, the Summit accelerates concrete business partnerships and transactions. IGEM has recorded a potential investment of RM41 billion and attracted 530,000 participants since its inception in 2010.
AtoZero ASEAN at IGEM 2023’s central missions are as follows:
- Accelerate ASEAN’s net zero transition pathways;
- Promote world-class content through open, inclusive platform that derives actionable insights from the ecosystem stakeholders - Energy Ministers, industry CEOs and thinktank leaders; and
- Gateway to the multi-billion-dollar Net Zero transition projects in ASEAN – connecting the industry to the current and upcoming major projects in the pipeline.
